Recently, our Ministry had a piece of equipment in need of repair. One of the guys highly recommended someone, saying he was great at what he does, and trustworthy – so I gave him a call. While talking with him about the situation He said: “I may not be the best, but I do my very best.” In that moment I thought – “Man what an excellent attitude – no wonder he has such a great reputation.”
This is exactly how God wants us all to approach each day. When our desire is to please God and live according to His will, He provides everything that is necessary for us to accomplish each task, and all responsibilities with excellence. The key to living with joy and that personal sense of inward contentment, is living according to the standards of God’s expectations and not our own (or others).
‘Doing things God’s way, is the only place on earth where true excellence is found’ Share on XIf you always strive to ‘be better than the other guy’ or ‘out do’ others and so on, life becomes a never ending battle or competition with standards that many times are both inaccurate, and, unnecessary. However, when you seek to live, and work, and bless, and serve, according to God’s standards, (not the world’s standards), you will very quickly find that you are actually ‘exceeding’ any expectations you could have had for yourself, including the expectations of others. In so doing, you have truly done ‘your very best’ –and – God’s very best for you. Doing things God’s way is the only place on earth were ‘true excellence’ is found. Your very best will always be found by desiring God’s very best for you.
‘In Him we live and move and have our being.’ (Acts 17:28)
Paul said, “I’m not perfect, but I strive each day to reach the goal.” (See Philippians 3:12).
Today, and every day, ask God to help you, strengthen you, and guide you, to just simply do His very best for you. As a result, you will climb higher and reach greater heights than you ever set for yourself, or even dreamed or imagined were possible. That’s what life and living is all about!
