“Something To Think About” B101.5FM Radio Message 12-31-16

One of the truest statements ever spoken is “You don’t know what you’ve got – until it’s gone.”

A great tragedy in human life is taking for granted the family, children, and loved ones that God has given us. Time goes by, continually and relentlessly marching on, so much changes, and we realize how much time we’ve lost. Down through the centuries, poems and songs have been written, even great works of art and sculpture have lamented the great sadness of the loss of time.

However, if we start today by treasuring the people and the time that God has given us, we can avoid that sense of regret, even remorse, for not placing great and proper value on the blessing of time. The great Van Morrison wrote: “No more wasted years.”

Jesus told us that life has an enemy:

“The thief comes only to kill, steal, and destroy, but I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” [John 10:10]

Part of the abundant and full life that Jesus was referring to, was enjoying the great blessing of time with family, friends and loved ones. He was also speaking of the immeasurable abundance of living the life of faith, with an awareness of His unfailing love and constant presence. As God guides our lives, He also stirs our hearts to be aware, and awake, to those things that are precious and important to us – and to Him. God never wastes time. And with Him in our lives, He teaches us to never waste it either. The result is the gathering and enjoyment of blessings and memories, and the eliminating of regrets.

It is true, Jesus really is – “The Life”
