Woman with worried look.

“Something To Think About” B101.5FM Radio Message 1/15/17

Do you find yourself worrying about things? There are some who seem to worry just about everything. In fact, they admit it, almost jokingly. Others, not so jokingly. Then there are folks who worry, but it is normally attached to a few specific things. There are basically two kinds of worry. There is the worry about things that a person simply cannot control. For example, world events, the constant threat of war, global violence, starvation, famine, drought, cancer, the potential for nuclear disaster, just to name a few. Then there is the worry about things that are a little bit closer to home. For example, finances, the safety and well being of children, their food, education, clothing. Then there is the worry about relationships, loved ones with addiction, getting a severe illness, aging parents etc.

It is of essential importance that we all realize that God not only wants us ‘not to worry’, but He also has the power to completely free us from the matter of worry. With all the major issues taking place in this life, God, in His love, brings it down to the most basic of needs to teach, reassure, and comfort us concerning worry. However, He also sums it all up by speaking to our very ‘life’, because it is God who controls all life:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds, they do not sow or reap and Yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?…..So do not worry…But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”[Matthew 6:25,26, 27,31,33]

When a person decides to ‘seek first the kingdom of God’ – His heart, His word, His promises, His purposes, His love – they very quickly realize that He is in complete control, and will be faithful to meet every need in our lives. Think of it, God is so committed to letting us know that He will meet our needs – and – that we need not worry about ‘anything’, that He addressed it Himself in His own word. When God says ‘Don’t worry’, that’s the the greatest assurance that any human being could ever receive.

In short, God does not want us to worry, so bring your worries to God. He knows your need, your life, and your future. If you let Him, He’ll take good care of you, guide your heart, strengthen your thoughts, pour miracles into your life, home, and family – and free you, from worry. But the big part of this becoming a reality in your life, was the first four words in the previous sentence: ‘If you let Him.’

Invite God into your worries, and watch your worries fade away into the blessing of faith and divine love.
