“Something To Think About” B101.5FM Radio Message 8/6/16

Anne Frank said, “Everyone has inside them a piece of good news.”

This is so true, yet, the constant barrage of bad news that is taking place here in America and around the world, in many ways, seems to squash down, limit, and overshadow that good news. From terrorism to crime, poverty, and war, there’s more than enough bad news to go around.

Good news is much more than the absence of bad news. Good news is the very thing that obliterates bad news, and, speaks of the true life, the way God intended it to be from the very beginning. The gospel is called the “Good News”, because it carries with it, not only the power to destroy evil, but also the message of hope, joy, peace, restoration, salvation, healing, forgiveness, grace, everlasting life, and best of all, God’s unfailing love for all of us.

Every day we are faced with the harsh realities of this life. The fact is, the bad news is real, very real and it should not be ignored, and cannot be avoided. But there is good news, and it is that the “truth” of God’s word, is greater than the facts of this life. The truth of God’s word is greater than the facts of this life. The truth of light is greater than the fact of darkness. The truth of hope is greater than the fact of despair, and the truth of good is greater than the fact of evil.

We may be surrounded by the facts of bad news, but we can choose to be the bearers of the truth of the good news. Bad news will dominate the conversation if good news is not being told, just as darkness dominates a room at midnight until the light is turned on in that room.

Think about that good news inside of you. You can make someone smile with that good news. You can relieve suffering, and bring hope and joy and gladness of heart with that good news.

One tiny candle can obliterate a room full of darkness. Light a candle today, with the good news inside of you.

The Gospel is the Good News.
