Waiting on hold

‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message – 1/19/16

Has this ever happened to you?

Recently, a friend of mine was helping out to get something brought in for our Ministry. After making the phone call, and going through the robots, he finally got a real person on the line. While speaking with their customer service department, he was then put on hold, not once, but three or four times. After waiting 30 minutes, he realized we were going nowhere. Needless to say, we’ll be looking in another direction.

It seems as if society is not only utilizing robots, and depending on robots in many forms and fashions, but we are almost becoming “like” robots. There is now an incredible impersonal nature to the way in which people interact with one another. This is not necessarily an internet or social media thing, because many folks interact in a very personal way, albeit via technology – but in the way we are actually speaking to, interacting with, and basically treating each other. Where there was once eye contact and a sense of courtesy and warmth, there is now an almost mechanical and hurried exchange of words sounding more like a lunchtime drive-thru order than human beings talking together. Everyone is in a hurry, looking beyond you rather than at you. And while they are talking with you, they have a hundred other thoughts going around in their heads, so much so, that without realizing it, you were put on hold in the conversation five minutes ago. Does any of this sound familiar?

The great thing about prayer is you never get put on hold. Click To Tweet

Well, there is a place of warmth, courtesy, genuine interest, and true focus in the realm of interaction and dialogue, and that place, is the place called prayer. The great thing about prayer, is you never get put on hold! In the place of prayer you will find that your heart and thoughts are genuinely cared for, listened to, and focused upon, and you actually determine the length of the conversation. Once you make that phone call, you go right to the boss– and best of all – no robots! God will never shut you down, put you on hold, cut you off, look beyond you, or interrupt you while you’re speaking. And if that wasn’t enough, you also realize that you are loved with an immeasurable and divine love. It is God’s perfect love, and God’s love never fails.

Another great thing about prayer is there are no numbers or websites to save. In fact, through the immediate availability and blessing of prayer, we find that we – are saved.
