Everyone loves to receive gifts. But did you know that God gives you gifts in order to be given away? Someone said: ‘The meaning in life is to find your gift – the purpose in life is to give it away.’
God has amazing, life changing, and world changing gifts for each and everyone of us, that will not only bless and encourage our lives, but massively bless, help, and encourage others as well. And because God has given each of us gifts, His desire is that we would discover these powerful and precious gifts. The good news is, it is not a mystery to determine the gifts, and the gifting that God has placed in our lives. However, it is easy to mistake a ‘Talent’ we may have, for a “Gift’ that God has given us. This is not to say that some of our talents may not be our gifts from God, because many times, they are. But it is important not to miss or ignore the true gifts of God because we are only focused on the talents that become obvious in our lives. Talents are awesome, and they can benefit others for sure, but to only be aware of our talents, and potentially miss the gifts that God has for us, is to miss the true impact that God wants to have through our lives, for the sake of others.
‘Of course the key question is, “How do I discover and determine my gift(s).” Share on XNow this comes as great news to the many who always say, “I was not born with any particular talents.” This may be true, but you were definitely and without doubt born with gifts that God has designed, decreed, and deposited into your life:
‘We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..’ [Romans 12:6]
‘Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace.’ [1st Peter 4:10].
Of course the key question is, “How do I discover and determine my gift(s)?” The answer, is having a relationship with God. As you walk with the Lord, read His word, and fellowship with others, God sees to it that your gifts are stirred within your life and revealed. I love my wife. And because I am in a relationship with her, when I have a gift for her, I make sure she gets it. Same with God. He loves us with an immeasurable and unfailing love. And because we are in a relationship with Him, He makes sure we get the gifts that He has for us.
Think of it this way. God has already given all of us the precious gift of life. And this is for everyone, many of whom grow up and have, nor, sadly and tragically enough, even desire, a relationship with Him. Yet they still have the benefit of the gift of life. Well, how much more will God give His awesome gifts to those who are walking in a daily relationship with Him. Which, by the way, brings the true meaning of life, to merely being alive.
God is the greatest gift giver ever. For God so loved the World that He gave His Only Son!
‘He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?’ [Romans 8:32]
In fact, all of God’s greatest gifts, are found in His greatest gift. And that Gift – is Jesus! When you have Jesus in your life, everything else will be revealed and fall into place.
