“Think On These Things” B101.5FM Radio Message 4/18/17

We recently received, from a really wonderful friend, a beautiful hand stitched blanket for one of our newest grandchildren. I don’t know anything about sewing or stitching, but I can tell the pattern is a major part of the beauty and strength of the finished work.

God has a pattern for our lives. But if we keep tearing ourselves away, or resisting Him, we will never see the strength and beauty that He has designed for us. I have often wondered how many people resist the beauty that the Lord has designed for their lives, and pull away from him because of what other people have said to them about their own experiences with ‘religion’. This is such a sad reality to know that people are missing a daily and lovely ‘relationship’ with Jesus, because they have been influenced by the words or opinions of others.

The truth is, in many cases, people are right about negative, or dry experiences in the realm of ‘religion’. But to explain the difference, one would have to recognize that being in a relationship with religion as opposed to being in a daily and living relationship with Jesus, is as night and day as the difference between being in a relationship with a real person or a cardboard box. Now the cardboard box may be well designed, constructed, even lots of pretty colors and well placed words. But no matter how you look at it, at the end of all consideration, it is just a cardboard box. It is dry, rigid, and offers nothing but that which has been written on it by the traditions of whatever religion it represents.

I have known Jesus for close to four decades now, and I am so thankful that He is real and alive in my life. He has filled me with His Spirit, given me a family, a Ministry, music, a hope, and a future. No wonder The Word of God says of Him:

‘In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.’ [John 1:4]

After working with multiple tens of thousands of people over the years, I must say, I would highly recommend that they pull as far away from a cardboard box as they possibly can. In the times of need, the cardboard box is always going to be a cardboard box, void of life, void of wisdom and void of love. But please, Don’t pull away – from God! He is full of Life, full of wisdom and full of love. And, it is everlasting. Religion is a cardboard box. Jesus – is alive forevermore!
