Couple calculating bills

‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message 5/7/16

Finances

Many people, couples, families, etc., struggle in the area of finances. From the pressure of debt, or the anxiety of always wondering if there will be enough to pay the bills, feed the family, savings for education — or just simply saving for the future. Either way, when it comes to finances, the only fail proof approach is to learn and apply the strategy that God has set forth in His word.

I have worked with and counseled many businessmen over the years. It is amazing to see how many actually admit that all the business training and acumen in the world is not a sure way of handling finances in a mature, secure, and proper manner. Many readily acknowledge that doing things God’s way, is infinitely better than doing things ‘any other’ way. One man remarked, “I just simply learned that God’s ways work, mine did not.”

Now there are also many who have no desire to seek the Lord pertaining to His divine counsel in the area of finances. Some of the reasons behind this are pride, fear, being turned off by much off the television preaching which portrays greed and a misrepresentation of the true heart of God, unbelief, even personal greed etc. Either way, to dismiss God, and never learn the wisdom and the blessing of His true heart in the area of finances, is to forfeit the blessing all together. You may even become ‘successful’ on your own, without ever including God in the picture of your life, only to find out the misery of that error when it comes to eternal life.

‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.’ [1st Timothy 6:17-19]

‘For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.’ [Matthew 6:21]

‘Whoever loves money never has enough, whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.’ [Ecclesiastes 5:10]

‘Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.’ [Proverbs 13:11]

‘Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.’ [Proverbs 10:4]

Why not exit the stressing – and enter the blessing? Give God your whole heart, yes, even in the area of finances.
