Helen Keller said: ‘Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see the shadows.’ What a beautiful quote.
Many times though, we do the exact opposite. We tend to focus on the problems, the hardships, the shadows, and as a result, we lose our peace of mind.
Speaking of the Lord, the bible tells us that He will:
‘Keep him in perfect peace – he whose mind is focused upon You, because he trusts You.’ [Isaiah 26:3]
Now this gives us insight into something, and that is that we are given a choice. We can focus on the shadows, the hardships and the blurry and dreary places, or, we can hear the voice of God our Savior calling us to look toward the blessing and light of His divine love and protection.
Staying focused on God gives us peace in the midst of the shadows. But we have to make the decision that we are going to choose the better place of God’s Presence. We must make the decision that we will not allow the darkness, the depressive thoughts, the shadows, to deceptively court us into the place where we are separated from the truth of God’s love, light and faithfulness. We have to once and for all proclaim and declare that God has set us free and we are accepting His offer of freedom through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross. Once this decision and declaration is made in simple faith, the pure power of God’s light will dispel and obliterate every degree of darkness that has loomed so constantly like storm driven clouds above our heads.
Staying focused on God gives us peace in the midst of the shadows. Share on XLet God be God in your life. The world will mock, insult, and devalue these words of truth. Sadly, however, they do it in blindness, or at the very least, blurred vision, from underneath the very clouds of darkness I am referring to. Do not allow yourself to be among the blind that are following the blind. Let the power of God’s love open your eyes, and pull the curtains off of your heart! Once His light enters in, the darkness will finally cease to have a place in your life.
‘Happy are those ….who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord.’ [Psalm 89:15]
