Heart shaped clouds and a cross.

‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message 4/26/16

How can God’s love for us be explained? There are an infinite amount of approaches I could take to bring the answer to this question that was sent to me by a friend in Zimbabwe. If this question came your way, what would your answer, or answers, be? Have you ever thought about explaining God’s love to someone? Have you ever, like my friend, thought about this or asked this question yourself?

One of the best ways to explain God’s love is by comparing it with the reality of failure and disappointment. Now at first glance that doesn’t seem to be a very good opener, but please continue to read just a bit further. Everything in this life is subject to failure and disappointment. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. But God’s word tells us that God’s love never fails, and the Hope He gives us never disappoints.

Some say, “Well death is guaranteed?” Without going into the hope, encouragement, and blessing of the teaching of the Holy Spirit through Paul the Apostle, which absolutely declares that there are those who will not experience death, but be ‘caught up to meet the Lord in the air.’, we must always remember, at the cross, God’s love conquered – even death. The purpose of the cross was God’s love for all of us.

‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not die, but have everlasting life.’ [John 3:16]

From this love, flowed the power of the resurrection where Jesus conquered death. God’s word goes on to tell us that because of the resurrection of Jesus, even those who died, having faith in God, will also be resurrected with Christ.

‘Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised up to life as He was.’ [Romans 6:5]

Death fails in the face of the power of God’s unfailing Love. I’m so glad that God loves me!

Big shout out to Meditrece, from Zimbabwe, for the topic.
