‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message – 2/9/16

Have you ever been sad heading home from a vacation? You know, one of those vacations that was just one of the best ever. Or you’ve come to the end of the night after seeing your favorite band in concert. You waited years to see them, they finally came, the show was awesome, and now it’s over and you’re thinking, “It may be years before you see them again, if ever.” Perhaps you find yourself at the end of a visit with someone you love and hardly ever get to see, or even the end of one of the best days you’ve ever had? And your feeling sad or forlorn because it has come to an end.

Dr. Seuss said: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

The truth is, our best times and days that we experience in this life, are evidence of God’s love and blessings upon our lives. They are also reminders that yesterday’s blessings, are hints of even greater things to come. I love all of my grandchildren with all my heart. One of the cutest things that comes from a couple of them is how they love to plan ahead. We call them ‘The Planners’. No matter what we have done, or may be doing together, they love to insert language that will ensure that at the end of what we’re currently doing, something else is going to happen when it’s over. We could be driving home from an entire day out, and they’re trying to plan and set up a ‘Sleepover’. I think many of you know exactly what I’m referring to. But I love it, because I am the very same way. I never want the day, or the fun, or the being together to end.

Now of course we have to live our lives in balance, (I’m talking about us big kids too), but when your serving the Lord, you find that He too, is always looking forward to something wonderful for all of us. Not only the blessing of heaven that awaits us, but also the joy and exhilaration that comes from walking with Him, and desiring His will for our lives. God delights in leading us into experiences and moments that are even better than anything we have ever experienced with Him before. The key to this reality being real in our lives, is simply placing the fullness of our trust in Him, and following in the direction of His leading.

Always keep in mind when a wonderful day or project, or visit, etc., is coming to, or nearing an end, when you’re walking with the Lord – the best is always yet to come! Just hang on tight and let the Lord surprise you!!

Have a story to share on this topic? We would love to hear from you.
