A boxer gets knocked out.

‘Something To Think About’ B101.5 FM Radio Message – 1/9/16

Have you ever felt like a situation has just knocked you flat on your back? Or perhaps you made a mistake that landed you flat on your back?

Listen, it’s ok to have landed on your back – because if you can look up – you can get up! We’ve all made mistakes in this life. We’ve all fallen into ruts for one reason or another. The key is – don’t camp out there. Don’t set up a tent in the ditch of that fall. This is a profound mistake that many people make. Whether getting knocked over by someone, or something else, or contributing to that fall ourselves, we become so devastated, that we no longer desire, or even try, to get back up.

God wants us to look up, get up, and get going again! This is the amazing thing about God’s word. He shows us how many of his greatest servants, made huge and terrible mistakes. But through the power of His love, mercy and forgiveness, they were able to get back up, and get going again. I’m so glad God let us see this about His people. It has been a major source of inspiration and motivation for me every time I have landed on my backside, for one reason or another. Or, ministering to others who have landed on theirs.

He also shows us among His servant’s those who were knocked over, by the evil and violence and hateful persecution of others. For example, read this personal account of one of His greatest men, Paul, the apostle. “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed..” (2nd Corinthians 4:8-9).

Obviously, Paul learned the great source of God’s awesome, supernatural strength, and assistance, in the face of all these hardships, in his own life and ministry.

There is another great promise I have learned about the Lord. If you can’t get up on your own, He will lift you up.

He promised if we look to Him, He will lift us up with the ‘Right hand of His righteousness.’ Read (Isaiah 40: 9-14).

Tell us about an experience where you were knocked down but God’s love lifted you back up again. It will inspire many. Share your experience in the comment box below. 😃

  1. Thank you for this encouraging word! I felt knocked down after the murder of my son and then death of my husband within four months in 2004. God gave me a verse in his word to cling to “Be still and know that I am God…psalm 46:10” My Heavenly Father and my family of faith at New Life Outreach have walked beside me every step of the way to healing from these tragic losses! The Lord has restored my joy!
