Gossip is a terrible and dangerous thing. Once it begins, it has terrible consequences.
One person said: “Gossip is like feathers in a pillow. Stand on a roof, cut it open and let the feathers fly off into the wind, then go out and try to gather each and every one of the feathers and re-stuff the pillow.” In other words – it’s nearly, impossible!
“Gossip is spread by wicked people – they stir up trouble and break up friendships.” [Proverbs 16:28].
Tragically, many people who allow, and engage in gossip, have no idea of the ramifications of this ugly and treacherous practice. And even more tragically, they have never bothered to embrace or seek the heart of God in this area. God is not only serious about the matter of gossip; He also hates it:

‘There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife, discord, and dissention among believers.’ [Proverbs 6:16-19].
Whenever a person spreads gossip, or allows it, or worse, helps it along and enables it by giving it the thumbs up and fanning it’s flames – they are sowing seeds into a terrible, eventual harvest.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” [Galatians 6:7].
No good has ever, or will ever come from the evil, of gossip. Please ask God to keep you far away from the terrible practice and plague called gossip.
Gossip dies, when it reaches the ears of a person operating in the Spirit of God’s love and wisdom. Please be that person!
