Cup of coffee

“Something To Think About” B101.5FM Radio Message 8/3/16

It’s been said, “just do your very best today.”

That’s easier said than done because there are a multitude of things that try and get in the way of you doing your very best today.

From a headache, to a runny nose, to the farm tractor in front of you on the way to work going 5 MPH in a 45 MPH (while you’re already running late) – to the coffee being made wrong at the drive-thru – or worse, SPILLING the coffee on the way to work – and the list goes on.

One thing that can help in a very real way, is reminding ourselves, that with all the things we could be dealing with on a day to day basis, in many ways, it pales in comparison to what many people are dealing with around the world. From hunger and lack of fresh water, to violence and war torn areas, to overwhelming poverty, sickness and disease, and so much more. As we remember these realities, we very quickly realize that maybe some of the things we allow to get in our way, or ruin our day, are not nearly as bad as they seem, or, we allow them to be.

Also, remembering these things can compel us to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives which can help motivate us to want to, not only do our best every day – but each and every moment.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 gives us another powerful reason to make each moment, and each day count. It says…

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might..”

Be resolved in your heart that whatever comes your way, from the big and the small things, to the good, the bad and the sometimes ugly things, through prayer, a heart of thanksgiving, and faith in God’s Love – NOTHING will keep you from having an awesome day. After all, this is the day that the Lord has made.

They can keep the sugar out of your coffee, but they can’t keep the sweetness out of you!
