‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message 6/22/16

A broken heart is among the greatest tragedies in human life. One person said: “I’m proud of my heart. It’s been played, stabbed, cheated, burned, and broken – but somehow it still works.”

I suppose it is impossible for anyone to go through life without experiencing some degree or dimension of a broken heart. Even as children, from the loss of a pet, a goldfish, a friend moving away, or the more difficult heartbreak of death. And – our adult life, with all of the above, including the complexities of human relationships – none of our hearts are exempt from being hurt, bruised and broken in some measure or other.

Believe it or not, no one understands a broken heart more than God. He created humanity, and so many have rejected Him, mocked Him, laughed at Him, turned their backs on Him, and so much more. He came to earth as a man in the form of Jesus Christ, and the very children He created and loved with an immeasurable love, betrayed Him, beat Him, spit upon Him, tortured Him, crucified Him, even hurling insults at Him while he hung in agony upon the cross.

‘And one shall say unto Him, what are these wounds in your hands? Then He shall answer, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends,” [Zechariah 13:6].

Yet, He’s always ready to love, always ready to forgive, always ready to help, and always ready to heal all broken hearts. No matter what – God’s loving heart still worksperfectly.

If your heart’s been broken, bring it to Him – He understands completely.

Share an experience of how God’s love brought hope and healing to a time in your life when your heart was hurt, bruised, or broken.
