‘Something To Think About’ B101.5FM Radio Message 5/30/16

Do you know anyone with a hard heart? Sadly, the answer to this question would be a “Yes”, by just about 100% of the people who would be presented with this subject. Hard-heartedness is one of the most difficult of all human conditions, both in its formation, as well as its effects upon the person, and its effects upon those who surround that person.

The range of reasons that forge and form a hard heart both in, and upon, a person’s life are nearly endless. The most grievous of all, however, is to have a hard heart toward God. This is something that negatively impacts a person in life, and tragically, in death. The subject of this article, however, is not to explore the reasons behind hard-heartedness, but to look at what our heart attitude should be toward those who struggle with a hard heart.

Many times I think of Ebenezer Scrooge, the main character in Charles Dicken’s classic, A Christmas Carol. We can see through his life, even from childhood, how his heart began the process of being hardened through time and circumstances. One of the best scenes is near the ending when, on Christmas morning, after he was powerfully dealt with on Christmas eve, he was so happy to be alive, and became such a generous, joy-filled, loving, and giving man.

We see in this classic story, that it took the combination of the supernatural, and the unconditional love of others, that brought about the changed heart and nature of what was previously a very bitter and hard-hearted individual.

Don’t let hard-hearted people form a hard heart in you. And, don’t be hard toward people with a hard heart. If you pray for them and show them love – God – will change them.

GODS LOVE NEVER FAILS
