‘Something To Think About’ B101.5 FM Radio Message – 1/10/16

Corrie Ten Boom, a holocaust survivor said: “Worry does not empty tomorrow of it’s sorrows – it empties today of it’s strength.”

Worry is a heavy thing. It can be one of the heaviest weights we carry in this life. It’s like carrying a sack of bricks on our back. And it’s true – it robs us of the strength and blessing of each day. We miss the glory of the sunrises and the sunsets of our lives, the laughter of children, the blessing of friendship, fun, humor and even the music that we love.

Because of worry, people have lost their joy and their smile. Because of financial worry, people have committed crimes, separated, or divorced. Because of worry many people have lost their desire for life, even committing suicide. And the list goes on. The question is, how do we finally get the sack of bricks off of our backs?

Many try to deal with and anesthetize worry with drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling etc. The problem is, these so called self appointed remedies for worry, only intensified, heightened, and increased the worry. Which in turn increases the chosen personally prescribed remedies for worry, which in turn – Well, you get the picture. It’s just a vicious cycle which allows worry to create even more and greater worry, which increases more destructive habits and on and on it goes. Not to mention, this vicious cycle also, in many ways, only serves to increase the worries in the lives of loved ones and friends.

The truth is, when it comes to worry, in any size or degree, only the power of God’s love and faith in His promises can remove the brick sack of worry from our backs.

Let me list a few scriptures that have proven 100% effective in the lives of all those who have simply placed their faith in God, and learned to trust Him. Let God take that sack off your back today, and breathe in the awesome splendor and wonder of a brand new day.
